Nanoleaf Announces Updates to Essentials Line, Redesigned Desktop App and More

Alongside the new Nanoleaf Elements, a lighting product with a wooden texture designed to fit into the home, Nanoleaf today announced updates to the Essentials products, expanded Thread capabilities, a new desktop app and more.

The colourful lighting will be receiving Dynamic Colour Changing Scenes, which lets you apply multiple colours to a scene and transition through them, with effects like ‘Fade’, ‘Highlight’ and ‘Random’.

Essentials will also support Screen Mirror, a feature that lets you connect a Windows PC or Mac to a TV through HDMI and mirror the colours of the content playing on the screen. Essentials Bulbs and Lightstrips are also gaining support for Razer products, allowing you to sync colours across all Nanoleaf lights and Razer keyboards, mice and headsets.

The Nanoleaf Desktop app has been redesigned to create a “seamless transition from the mobile app”, and now mirrors the look and feel of it, with new icons and fonts, and support for Essentials products. It will be available on Windows and Mac “soon”.

Shapes and Elements will also be receiving a software update later this week with additional Thread capabilities, including an integrated Thread Border Router directly in the device controllers. It will let users connect any Thread-enabled devices from Nanoleaf and third-party companies, removing the requirement for a dedicated Thread router to use the Thread standard.

Nanoleaf also teased an upcoming products named ‘Lines’, which look to be RGB-based lighting product aimed at gamers. Further details on this new line are expected later this year.
