[UPDATE: It is now] Twitter’s limited replies feature is not actually out for everyone

Update 11/08: Twitter have confirmed that the limited replies feature is rolling out to all users today on the web, Android and iOS apps. You shouldn’t need to install any updates in the respective app store.

In May, Twitter introduced new conversation settings for a limited number of users that lets you choose who can reply to a tweet. These options include everyone (anybody on Twitter), only people you follow, or only people you mention.

The company then updated the Twitter app for iOS with release notes that claimed the feature would be available to everyone. This update is now available in the App Store.

“In May, we tested a new way to have a chat with exactly who you want, so you can create and consume more meaningful changes,” reads the update release notes on the App Store. “Now, everyone can try this new feature and choose who can reply to their tweets.”

However, these were “accidentally pushed” out and are incorrect. The Limited Replies tool is still only available to a small amount of users and Twitter continues to test and improve the feature. If you can’t find the option to set who can reply to your tweet, you’re probably not alone.
