Twitter testing new timeline UI which looks similar to Instagram

Twitter is developing a tweaked user interface for the timeline in the mobile app on iOS and Android.

As discovered by Jane Manchun Wong, the new UI removes padding around the side of tweets, making better use of the horizontal space. Photos stretch right out to the edges, and the layout of tweets has been adjusted.

It’s not clear when the changes will roll out publicly, although Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey suggested, in a response to the find, that the changes were “much better”.

The move has been compared to Instagram, which has always used the width of the device to display images and videos.
