Spotify launching HiFi lossless steaming service later this year

Spotify has announced a new HiFi tier that users can subscribe to for access to high-quality, lossless audio. The premium tier will be available later this year.

Services including Deezer, Amazon Music and Tidal have long offered a lossless service, but Spotify and Apple Music lack it.

Spotify says music will be delivered in CD-quality so users can enjoy their favourite music, if record labels choose to support it. It also claims that high-quality music has been consistently requested by users.

Pricing and availability information will be shared nearer to release. HiFi will be a premium tier add on and only in certain markets.

Spotify’s Stream On event, where HiFi was announced, can be streamed on YouTube.
