Opinion: Here’s what Apple could announce at the October event

Apple is rumored to be releasing some updated products this fall, with the annual event that usually happens around the end of October. Although the event has not yet been announced, speculation is rising around products that are believed to be announced based on software leaks and news from earlier this year.

We will be discussing the possibility of upcoming products and what we believe Apple could announce. Keep in mind that this is an opinion article and there’s no official confirmation.

Mac Pro

Apple announced the all-new Mac Pro and Pro XDR Display in June, at WWDC19. Although they gave an in-depth look at the specifications, design and features of the unreleased powerhouse, there was never an official launch date revealed – just ‘later this year’. It’s very likely that Apple will announce the release date of the two devices – whether they’ll be the same is unknown. Hopefully, there will be no major delays that prevent the company from releasing it to consumers this year.

Announcement possibility: Very likely

iPad Pro updates

The iPad Pro gained a major overhaul last year, so it’s obvious that we’ll be seeing a much smaller upgrade with the next model. We expect to see an A13X processor chip, internal changes, and three rear cameras, with 3D sensing abilities. However, given that Apple had a focus on the iPad lineup at the September event, there’s probably not going to be updates to the Pro models this year. This does indeed fit in with rumours that Apple would release new iPad Pro models in the first quarter of 2020 – and it seems increasingly more likely to happen.

Announcement possibility: Very unlikely

AirPods Pro

With recent iOS 13 betas, mentions and evidence of upgraded AirPods have been discovered many times. Reports and rumours are becoming more common as the days go on, and it looks like Apple is ready to release an all-new generation of AirPods, likely named ‘AirPods Pro’. These will pose a $250 price tag, but feature an all-new, in-ear design that will be smaller but similar to the current AirPods. They’ll come with a redesigned, wider case, with an angled stem and bigger air vent. The biggest feature, to warrant the ‘Pro’ suffix, will be noise cancellation. Apple will probably focus on these at an event rather than a press release.

Announcement possibility: Very likely

Apple Tag

Just like the new AirPods, Apple has given us many looks at a Tile-competitor product that it’s developing, allowing you to track your belongings and items using the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad. The tag will be round and have the ability to be attached to objects, and it has a customisation aspect to it, by using the app on your device. You’ll be able to make a noise, change the name and icon, and adjust lots more. We thought that Apple could release it with the iPhone 11, but this didn’t happen, and it’s been thought that the tag was internally delayed. Now could be a suitable time that’s not too far away from the recent iPhone refresh.

Announcement possibility: Could happen

We’re unsure of any other products that Apple feels could be worthy of a refresh this year. Next year, we’re expecting iMac, iMac Pro and MacBook Pro redesigns, along with lots more.
