A new Apple leaker has said that the next-generation iMac, due imminently, could be a major upgrade over the previous models, released over a year ago, with internal upgrades and new sizes.
According to them, the 21.5-inch model could be discontinued and replaced with a larger 23″ version, whilst the non-retina displays won’t be featured in this year’s lineup. The 27inch model is staying.
These could have smaller bezels with an improved screen resolution on all sizes. Within this reduced bezel could be a higher-quality camera, at Full HD (1080p) – up from 720p.
Internally, Apple could update the processors to Intel’s latest 10th-gen, whilst upgrading the graphics to the Radeon Pro 5000 series: Pro 5300, 5500 & 5700. A T2 chip, from the MacBooks, is also set to be added. This adds a level of security to the computer, also securing Touch ID data.
Apple is rumoured to release the new iMacs in July, in silver and space gray. They could announce it at WWDC20, later this month.
L0vetodream has also tweeted a cryptic message suggesting that Apple plans to refresh the design of one of its products or software, but has not confirmed what that could be – it does begin with ‘i’, so it’s looking increasingly like the iMac.
