New AirPlay UI and more in Apple’s September 17th betas

Apple released new versions of their software yesterday, and we’ve had some time to try them out and look for new features. We’ll update this article if we find anything new. So far, here’s what’s new:

iOS and iPadOS:

  • Brand New AirPlay interface with the ability to start music or podcasts
  • Updated lock screen music player
  • App Store tab in the Watch app now shows a redirect to App Store again
  • Artist, Memoji, and other Watch faces removed from the Watch app
  • Shazam now available in Control Center, even if you don’t have the app. It will automatically scan music in the background, and send a notification once it recognizes the song

macOS:

  • Brand New Keychain Access and Dictionary icon
  • Messages and FaceTime icon updated with reduced shadow
  • Mission Control icon updated to rounded square shape

tvOS:

  • New Big Sur screensavers

watchOS:

  • Artist, Memoji, and other Watch faces removed
