Google announces Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G devices

Google have officially announced the brand new line up of Pixel phones including the flagship Pixel 5 and a newer Pixel 4a. At tonight’s Launch Night In event, google have announced a variety of new products to its Pixel and Google Home lineups.

Starting at £599, the new Pixel 5 comes in two colours – Just Black and Sorta Sage. It has 5G capabilities and features a Snapdragon 765G Processor. Whilst this isn’t the top-tier processor, this helps Google bring the device at a much lower cost compared to other flagship devices.

With a 6″ OLED display, the Pixel 5 is larger than the previous Pixel and 4a. However it comes with the same hole punch display as the 4a, eliminating the larger bezels at the top and bottom of the screen that the Pixel 4 came with. This does mean it has had to say goodbye to some of the main features of the Pixel 4 – such as the Motion sense and Face Unlock.

Other features the devices is packed with include reverse wireless charging, stronger Gorilla Glass on the front and a higher water resistance rating.

The Pixel 4a 5G comes starting at £499 and, like the name suggests, also comes with 5G capabilities. The device also comes with 6.2″ OLED display, which makes it slightly larger than the Pixel 5. The Pixel 4a 5G comes in only one colour – Just Black.
