In what it calls a ‘planet-sized plan’, Apple will work to become 100% carbon neutral across all of its supply chains by 2030, ten years from now. The plans, unveiled on its website, will ensure all product life cycles and manufacturing processes are carbon neutral.
The ten-year roadmap includes specific details on product packaging, recycling and renewable energy. Apple says that it will “continue to increase the use of low carbon and recycled materials in its products“ and make the packaging lighter in future products.
The company also revealed that all iPhones, Macs, iPads and Apple Watches produced in the past year have been made with 100% recycled materials and that it decreased its carbon footprint by 4.3 million metric tonnes in 2019.
