Apple references unreleased 16-inch MacBook Pro in Boot Camp update

Earlier this week, Apple released a minor update to Boot Camp for Windows, version 6.1.13, which improved audio quality from the built-in microphone and fixes performance issues. The release notes have seemingly confirmed that a refreshed 16-inch MacBook Pro will be coming this year.

Apple says the update “fixes a stability issue that could occur during heavy CPU-load tasks on 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019 and 2020) and 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020)”. The company first announced a 16-inch MacBook Pro last year and is yet to update it.

It’s not clear if Apple is referencing the 16-inch MacBook Pro with the AMD 5600M GPU, which was released in June 2020. They don’t list this as a 2020 model in any support documents.

Apple is expected to refresh the 16-inch MacBook Pro with Intel’s 10th-generation chips, an improved webcam and T3 security chip later this year, potentially at a Mac-focused event in November.
