Apple Pay with Express Transit Mode is now available in Chicago

Today it has been revealed by the Chicago Transist Authority that Ventra now works with Apple Pay’s Express Transist mode making it quicker to pay when at train stations and on buses.

Express Transist Mode lets you pay for transport without the need to wake your iPhone or Apple Watch or authenticating with Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. You can hold your device near a contactless reader to pay instantly.

Ventra says that you “get the same features of a Ventra Card on your iPhone and Apple Watch, including the ability to load and manage transit value and CTA and Pace passes”. It’s important to note that when added to the Wallet app on iPhone or Apple Watch, the physical card will cease to function.
