Apple has shut down Dark Sky on Android for good

Apple has shut down the popular weather app Dark Sky on Android after previously announcing it would only be available until July 1st 2020. The company then, for whatever reason, extended that deadline by one month and shut the application down yesterday.

Dark Sky will continue to work on Apple devices, but no longer functions and can’t be installed on Android. Subscribers who paid for the service per month will also be refunded. Dark Sky has also confirmed that the API will no longer be available for developers to use after 2021.

Weather forecasts and the map will continue to be available on the Dark Sky website. If you’ve got an iPhone or iPad, you can download Dark Sky for $3.99.
