Analyst: 5G iPhone SE coming in 2022, hole-punch model in 2023

The third-generation iPhone SE will launch next year, according to new information shared by display analyst Ross Young.

Apple will refresh the iPhone SE with 5G connectivity but plans to keep the same 4.7-inch design with Touch ID and the home button. A previous report claimed it will also see power improvements with a newer processor.

Young also says Apple will drop the home button design and skip the notch in favour of a 6.1-inch model with hole-punch camera. An iPhone SE with this design is rumoured for 2023.

Kuo recently said that he expects the 2022 iPhones to use the “punch-hole” design, a big step away from the notch that has been included on the iPhones since the iPhone X in 2017.

Apple last updated the iPhone SE in 2020, with an improved camera, A13 Bionic and new colours. No refresh is planned for this year.
