2021 iPad Pro could be as powerful as M1 Macs

According to a recent video published by Mark Gurman, in which the prolific Apple leaker discussed the company’s plans for this year, the iPad Pro could gain hefty performance upgrades.

It will reportedly use the A14X chip, based on the 5-nanometer A14 Bionic. Performance could be “on par” with the M1 chip from the Mac mini, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

The additional performance would separate the closing gap between the iPad Pro and iPad Air 4, released late 2020. It could allow for future compatibility with Final Cut Pro and Xcode on iPadOS, something rumoured to come in 2021.
