Twitter is rolling out an improved warning system for tweets that may contain offensive language. It comes after a brief test in May last year, followed by an extended rollout in February.
If Twitter detects strong language in a tweet, it could display a prompt encouraging users to read and edit the tweet before they share it.
It claims that 34 percent of people who received the prompts in testing chose to revise their original tweet, while it resulted in 11 percent “fewer offensive replies”.
The new warnings will be rolling out to the iOS app today, and on Android in “the next few days”.
Twitter has also updated how images are displayed in your timeline, with longer images now fully viewable without an additional tap to view the whole image. This change is now available to all users on iOS and Android.
