YouTube Picture in Picture working again in Safari with iOS 14.5

Picture in Picture (PiP) is working again on the YouTube mobile website in iOS 14.5 beta.

The feature, first introduced in iOS 14.0, lets you watch videos in a pop out window while browsing social media, messaging friends or using other apps.

YouTube supported it on the mobile website with early versions of iOS 14, but quickly removed support for PiP unless you were logged in with a Premium subscription.

It’s now working again in Safari, Chrome and other third-party browsers on iOS, likely due to a system-level change made by Apple with iOS 14.5.
