Vizio to add Apple TV app to smart televisions later this year

The Apple TV app is available for many of the large-brand smart TVs, including Samsung, LG and Sony. In fact, this morning, Apple pushed an update that bought Dolby Atmos support to LG TVs with the app.

Vizio will now bring Apple TV to its range of smart televisions. In an announcement, the SmartCast software has been updated to be “even snappier than before” and will now also support other streaming services, such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube and Hulu. Support for Apple TV app will come “later this summer”.

SmartCast delivers endless entertainment as users’ favorite apps come together on one screen… Apps offering 4K content allow you to stream in spectacular 4K HDR with SmartCast’s support for all consumer HDR formats plus audio up to thrilling Dolby Atmos sound, bringing the ultimate cinematic experience right into the living room.

On supported televisions, the apps will provide 4K HDR content with Dolby Atmos audio.

The update will bring the Apple TV app to the speed-boosted 2021 TVs and all SmartCast-based televisions released since 2016. SmartCast TVs already support Apple AirPlay 2 and Siri.
