Spotify announces offline support for Apple Watch

Spotify is rolling out support for offline playback on Apple Watch, it announced on Friday. Users will be able to stream playlists, songs, albums and podcasts without an internet connection.

The feature will require Spotify Premium and introduces the option to ‘Download to Apple Watch’ on the iPhone app. It also brings new Downloads tap on the Apple Watch app, which lets you access any downloaded content. It will be possible to playback this music without internet or an iPhone.

It will also require an Apple Watch Series 3 or later running watchOS 6, but watchOS 7.1 is “recommended”.

Last year, Spotify rolled out improved Siri support and playback with an iPhone on the Apple Watch.
