iOS 13.2 Beta 2 released – here’s everything that’s new

Earlier this week, Apple released the second beta of iOS 13.2 to developers. It’s a large release and brings dozens of big, and small, features. From new emojis to small icon altercations, we’ve got a list of everything that’s new to the operating system.

Warning: iPadOS 13.2 Beta 2 has been bricking some iPad models. Apple has pulled the update for affected models, but we advise that you wait until further updates have been released to rectify this issue!


  • 59 new emoji, including yawn face, sloth and others
  • New emoji button for accessing the emoji keyboard
  • Emoji picker for selecting multiple skin tones in a family/couple emoji

Control Center

  • Blank icons in Control Centre now fixed
  • Accessibility platter in Control Centre has a new icon and look
  • Home platter title text changed from black to white

Home Screen

  • ‘Rearrange Apps’ 3D Touch option changed to ‘Edit Homescreen’
  • Option to quickly delete apps from the 3D Touch menu
  • Fixes for washed-out wallpaper (from beta 1)
  • ‘Done’ button in edit mode now translucent again
  • Animation when exiting 3D/Haptic Touch menu is faster
  • White border bug when in 3D Touch mode fixed
  • Share/Edit buttons swapped around in some apps


  • Lag when opening Camera from lock screen on iPhone 11/Pro fixed
  • Change video recording settings from the app (resolution, frame rate)


  • 3D/Haptic touching on song reveals new interface (context menu)
  • Shuffle button animation has changed
  • Haptic feedback when scrolling from Up Next to History

User interface

  • App Switcher animation changed – allows you to close apps much faster
  • Volume HUD timing adjusted and now disappears even faster
  • Silent Mode bubble no longer has red ‘silent’ text
  • 3D/Haptic Touch sound has changed, now more muted
  • When in dark mode, screenshot effect is now darker white
  • Smart Battery Case icon now appears as usual again in Widgets
  • The lower area of widgets panel cleaned up and more compact
  • Power down menu background back to original blurred state
  • Close button in Share Sheet changed again
  • Streamlined iPhone icon in Share Sheet


  • Option to Hide Link Preview revamped in Safari, moved to upper right
  • New jump-in animation when interacting with a link preview
  • Website options now separated off with bolder bars
  • Fonts hidden away in the submenu for Reader View
  • Option for Website Settings in Reader View


  • Siri Dictation screen asks to share audio recordings with them
  • Siri & Dictation History screen in Siri settings
  • Option to help improve Siri now in Analytics settings

General improvements

  • Maps: some buttons have been made full width
  • Tab view background back to original state
  • TV: Add button has been altered
  • Home: checkmarks across the app are now smaller
  • CarPlay: Music player revamped, text and buttons made smaller
