Apple unveils redesigned Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and new colors

Alongside a redesigned iMac, Apple has unveiled a new Magic Keyboard, with Touch ID, new colours and an updated design. New Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2 models will be available in the same colours as the new iMac, too.

The biggest change on the updated Magic Keyboard is the inclusion of Touch ID, which uses a “dedicated security component” on the M1 chip. It can be used to unlock the iMac and make purchases with Apple Pay. Fast User Switching allows multiple users of an iMac to switch user by pressing their finger on the Touch ID button.

The improved Magic Keyboard comes with new buttons for emoji, Spotlight Search, Dictation and Do Not Disturb and is the first major update to the accessory in years.

The 7-core iMac can be configured to include the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. A Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad is also available to purchase separately.
