Amazon introducing user profiles to Prime Video, follows Netflix

Amazon has started rolling out individual user profiles to Prime Video. The changes should be present on the Prime Video app for smart TVs, Windows, the mobile apps and website from today.

A maximum of six profiles per account will be allowed. One of them will be the primary (or ‘main’), which can likely be changed, and five additional profiles will be either regular or a kids account. Kids accounts will restrict what content can be viewed.

Purchases can be linked and each profile will tailor towards a user’s own interests. Each profile will include different recommendations, watch progress and history and more.

Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming services have had this feature for a while. Despite the Prime Video service being introduced in 2008, the Amazon-owned video platform has only just gained profiles for users.
